Desert Noises Tour and Breand New Record

Slowtrain Records, the publishing arm of Slowtrain, the best darned record store on Broadway in Salt Lake City, is very pleased to announce their newest limited edition vinyl release, Mountain Sea by Desert Noises out of Provo.

Available later this year, Mountain Sea is the first full-length record by Desert Noises, a follow-up to their 2009 self-titled EP.

Mountain Sea promises a slightly heavier direction for Desert Noises while remaining true to the band’s signature alt-folk sound that puts pretty and melancholy melodies up against insistent bass and drums for a polite and lively discussion. Produced by Joshua James, one of Paste Magazine’s “Next 25 Artists You Need to Know” in 2008, Desert Noises has spared no detail in crafting their new effort.

With a simultaneous release on CD by Northplatte Records, the Slowtrain limited LP will be a work of art in itself. Physical vibrations of sound will be pressed into the tightly-wound spiral grooves on both sides of a stunning white vinyl platter in an art-adorned paperboard sleeve suitable for framing. Also included will be a CD copy so you can put it on your computer and that littler computer in your pocket you call a phone so you can listen to it around town and when your friend stops you on the sidewalk in front of the coffee shop and asks you what you’re listening to you can say, “The new Desert Noises. I got it on vinyl at Slowtrain,” and you will be complete. Attractive people you’re attracted to will swoon.

The release of Mountain Sea will be supported by a humdinger of a North American tour, so you can tell your people in the “cool” cities to check them out and they’ll know you’re cool too and they’ll feel silly for moving so far away and paying so much in rent for little more than zip code prestige. Or if you’re not that petty, and I’m sure you aren’t, you’ll just be warm and fuzzy and satisfied by the experience that is listening to Mountain Sea by Desert Noises and the unsullied joy that comes with sharing it.

Desert Noises will be playing an all-ages pre-release show at Slowtrain (221 E Broadway) on Friday, July 15, at 8pm.
